Officials and members of the Bong Professionals Network (BON-PRO) have extolled H. E. President George M. Weah for granting an Executive Clemency to release 14 sons of Bong County the Sanniquelli Prison in Nimba County.
Bong Professional Network is a non-governmental professional organization organized by sons and daughters of the county with the same ideology of moving their county forward through programs and activities that will help in contributing meaningfully to the developmental agenda of Bong County.
The BON-PRO, executives described the President Executive Clemency as rewarding to the people of Bong County, especially after their children spend over five (5) years in prison.
The 14 Bongese (native of Bong County) were convicted in connection to the 2018 riot at MNG Gold facility in Kokoyah District.
They were charged and convicted after the November 5, 2018 mob violent action at the company that led to the looting of the facilities of MNG Gold in Kokoyah District.
They were convicted for multiple crimes including armed robbery, rioting, arson, burglary, Criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief and theft of property looting and vandalism.
Their conviction was based on the accident that led to the deaths of four persons, the suspects subsequently set ablaze the company’s vehicle and later conspired to loot its facilities.
However, we want to extend our commendation to some local leaders in the County, Green Advocates International and other international human rights organizations for their massive efforts in releasing our brothers from prison.
Moreover, we want to admonished our brothers to be law abiding citizens and avoid themselves from any act that have the propensity to undermine the progress of our beloved County, Bong County.
